Tell All About It! New Ebook Offers Ideas for Book Promotion

When I made the decision to self-publish ebooks for my monthly newsletter, The SPARREW Newsletter, I knew there is one rule to book publishing which I should follow: Give readers what they want. I couldn’t self-publish just ANYTHING. Sure, I have self-published some poetry books, but these were the personal poetry collections I knew would not sell if sent to a regular publisher. And, besides, there are probably other readers out there who love poetry just as much as I do. So, I figured, why not self-publish some poetry books too? After all, I have poetry books that are not available for free, so it wouldn’t hurt to include some free poetry collections among the free ebooks offered on my website.

Even so, I know just how important it is to provide readers with reading material they want and could use. So I shifted gears and decided to self-publish more ebooks specifically for writers and authors, since the newsletter is for writers and authors!

That’s what led me to the decision to self-publish the newest ebook, Promote Your Book on a Shoestring...or Less.

I got the idea for this book years ago, but I couldn’t really figure out just how to put it together. Then the idea on just how to put this book together and what kind of slant it should have came to me earlier this year, and it was so simple!

Simple enough, in fact, to create a short, 20-page ebook I could offer to subscribers of my newsletter for free!

The result is the new ebook mentioned above. It contains 50 ideas of methods to promote your book both online and offline. I decided to just include 50 suggestions for each option because if I included a looong list of suggestions, then it might be too overwhelming for readers. So, 25 suggestions for each option seemed about right. I also made sure all of the suggestions in this book were either low- or no-cost book promotion methods.

Thankfully, I was able to come up with 50 suggestions thanks to my many years of keeping my finger on the pulse of the book industry, following authors on social media, checking out various author sites, subscribing to many author newsletters and paying attention to what other authors are doing to promote their books. I have also used some of these methods myself with my own books.

While the book promotion suggestions included in this ebook will not guarantee sales, they will absolutely help spread the word about your book, which is what book promotion is supposed to do. Every little bit you do to promote your book and help get it in front of more readers will help. So give some of these suggestions a try and see what works for you and your book!

Here is the blurb:

With so many free opportunities available to authors for promoting their books, it can be hard to decide which promotional method works best. Where can authors find good free or affordable book promotion methods? Which ones are right for them? If you are an author with a book to promote, but you have a tight budget, then Promote Your Book on a Shoestring...or Less will give you the resources you need to spread the word about your book!

Promote Your Book on a Shoestring...or Less is available as a free download on Kindle Unlimited here.

From Blog to Ebook: Write Like the Wind Gives Writers Inspiration, Resources and Tips for their Writing Journey

In September of last year, I ran a series on this blog in which I posted something about writing every day for one month. While I was able to accomplish this challenge, the series didn’t really take off among readers, so I moved on to other things.

However, while I was recently trying to figure out what next free ebook to make available from my newsletter, The SPARREW Newsletter, I was struck with an idea: Why not turn that series into a free ebook? After all, those blog posts were on the subject of writing, something which I knew subscribers of my newsletter would be interested in.

I liked this idea and ran with it! The result is Write Like the Wind! Inspirational Notes for Writers.

That title is different than the one I advertised in the June issue of the newsletter. I ended up changing it! That’s not all I changed, though. Since I wanted to give the posts a new look, I added some extra material, which I included in quote boxes. I also expanded the list of books I recommend to writers, with 52 titles in all. I also changed some of the posts so they weren’t outdated or so that they had newer information.

One thing I noticed as I worked on revising these posts is that there were a lot of typos. Yikes! I can’t believe I missed them last time around. So I proofread the whole manuscript to get rid of those typos.

The result is an ebook which I hope every writer can enjoy reading, no matter how new or experienced they are to the writing world. I tried to make this ebook something which all kinds of writers may find useful, at every level of their writing career. I also shared some of my own personal lessons learned thus far in my own journey, as well as some tips that have worked for me.

I am thrilled to be able to impart more wisdom on to other writers out there and I hope they find the resources to be useful.

Here is the blurb:

The writing life can be hard sometimes. We can all use a little encouragement and support along the way. Write like the Wind gives writers of all ages and stages that support and encouragement. From tips on how to cope when you can't get the words on the page to reminders to keep going despite rejections, these notes will shine a light for the writers struggling in the dark and provide motivation to keep that desire to write going strong. Includes a list of 52 recommended books for writers.

A Journey Towards Healing: New Poetry Book, A Tiny Light, Sheds Light on a Difficult Path

I don’t dwell on the past, but sometimes it seeps into my writing. Then there are other times I can look back at my past, see the difficult experiences I had to go through to find my way, and realize that they all tell a story.

In some ways, poetry can tell stories, too – in the poems written during difficult times that eventually came to an end.

I have been through a lot of difficult situations in life (who hasn’t, right??) and, sadly, a lot of them contributed to my addiction to alcohol. I did eventually get sober, but it was in getting sober that I found my inner strength. The “tiny light” within myself that has kept me strong for over five years since I stopped drinking.

But I had to go through a lot of hard stuff first to get there!

The poems in this little book share those difficult moments – the rejection I felt in society, among people and even with family because of some reason or another; the VERY uncomfortable awkwardness I experienced after reconciling with my husband and trying to regain his trust and acceptance; the heartbreak and anger over lost love; the discomfort I endured with a former job as a burn survivor with burn scars on my face; experiencing rejection and loneliness in my marriage; and coming to terms with certain lingering issues in my life until, finally, recognizing the importance of letting go of everything that caused pain and weighed me down and finding my inner strength to stand alone on my own two feet.

Instead of looking back on these painful events of my past, I now see them as stepping stones to finding my own strength and learning to love myself no matter what happens. Kicking the drinking habit helped, yes, but I knew I had to go deeper than deal with my drinking problem. I had to resolve and make peace with these painful past experiences. So now I can look at this small collection of poems as a victory in overcoming my battle with drinking and shedding the baggage that weighed me down.

The poems in this book may be personal poems (confessional poems may be the better term), but hopefully they may resonate with readers and empower them at the end.

Here is the book’s blurb:

There are hardships in life that can drive people over the edge -- and, in the author's case, it drove her to alcoholism.

The poems in this book capture just some of the things that kept the author trapped in her addiction. She eventually broke free of addiction, made peace with her past and present, and found a tiny light within herself that gave her the strength to carry on as a stronger person free of the chains of alcoholism.
